But to truly support a newsroom of scale you'd have to have a lot of unique visitors donating a lot of money, and then encourage them to turn lots of pages per visit. And while it's nice to say "it's the NPR model", that leaves out the massive fund raising effort that all non-profits have that go after large sums from wealthy philanthropists in their communities.
